    The IL3685-1E PROFIBUS-compatible, galvanically isolated RS-485 transceiver from NVE offers data rate of 40Mbps and is designed for bidirectional data communication on balanced transmission lines, while being fully compliant with PROFIBUS specifications, including the differential output voltage. The IL3685 series is compatible with 3V and 5V power supplies. A unique ceramic/polymer composite barrier provides excellent isolation and virtually unlimited barrier life. This particular device uses NVE’s patented IsoLoop spintronic Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) technology and comes in an ultraminiature QSOP package.

    The IL3685 has current limiting and thermal shutdown features to protect against output short circuits and bus contentions that may cause excessive power dissipation, and also incorporate a “fail-safe if open” design, ensuring a logic high on R if the bus lines are disconnected or “floating.”
